Local View of Garibaldi OR

6 x 14 Oil on wood panel

I'm having a horrid time with photos.  Am I just fooling myself or does the camera lens have a mind of it's own?  None of the several photos I took...with natural light, LED soft light, from slightly above, slightly below look to me like the actual painting.  I dunno.  I think maybe a whole new approach is called for.

  1. It is a beautifully dramatic painting, Lauren. I especially like the lights twinkling on the distant shore line.
Most people advise taking the painting into the shade outside. Have to be careful it is totally vertical so the sky does not reflect down in it.
You can do it indoors by a bright window.
I have color corrected Lighting over my easel so I take mine there. I always have difficulty with blue and usually have to desaturate it a bit. Here you have the yellow which you do not want to desaturate too much.
